GAWTEC's training program consists of two-week- sessions twice a year, each for 10-12 trainees.   
All courses are given in English and principally tought at the UFS with special training periods at the DWD Met. Observatory Hohenpeissenberg and the FZK-IFU in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
Improvement of personal skills in chemical and meteorological measurement techniques and data handling;
Presentation of methods for the identification of measurement errors to increase data quality within the GAW station network;
Broadening the understanding of atmospheric processes and therefore increasing the ability for data interpretation;
Providing a platform for GAW station personnel for the exchange of measurement-related expe- riences and the discussion of problems.            
Generally, trainees stay at the UFS in double rooms with shower/WC. For outdoor activities weather and climate conditions (elev. 2650 m) require  year-round warm clothing. During training periods at the DWD Met. Observatory (elev. 985 m) trainees will stay in a nearby village.
Full board is provided all time.
Transfers between Munich Airport and the UFS, and all local transfers are arranged by GAWTEC.              
Trainees will see some of Bavaria's famous places, visit its Capital Munich and spend an evening in the nearby town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
 
There are no costs for trainees. Air fares are paid by WMO, all other costs by the German Environmental Agency and the State of Bavaria.               
Applications have to be made exclusively via the GAW Office at WMO.
