GAW Training & Education Centre

GAWTEC, the UFS-based GAW Training & Education Centre, provides scientific guidance and instructions to GAW station personnel from worldwide global and regional stations, an essential part of the GAW programme to ensure high quality measurements. 

GAWTEC offers twice per year courses on measurement techniques, analytical analysis, and data handling to invited trainees and assists stations in the transfer of knowledge and technology.

GAWTEC training lessons are given mainly by experts of the German Weather Service, the Federal Environmental Agency, the GAW World Calibration Centers (WCC) for N2O, VOC, and Physical Aerosols in Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Leipzig. CO training is provided by EMPA, the Swiss Federal Labora- tories for Materials Testing & Research.

GAWTEC is part of the Quality Assurance / Scientific Activity Center (QA/SAC) Germany and funded by the Federal Envi- ronmental Agency and the State of Bavaria. EMPA's contribution is funded by MeteoSwiss.
