The GAW Global Station 'Zugspitze/Hohenpeissenberg'  is based on two sites, the subalpine 'Hohenpeissenberg' (985 m a.s.l., operated by DWD) and the high-alpine 'Zugspitze' with measuring platforms at the summit at 2960 m.a.s.l. and the UFS (2650 m.a.s.l.), where Deutscher Wetterdienst (DWD, German Meteorological Service) and Umweltbundesamt (UBA, Federal Environment Agency) jointly measure meteorological data, radiation properties, greenhouse gases, reactive trace gases, aerosol properties, and radionuclides.
