Key Scientific Activities

The main emphasis of the Virtual Institute is to promote the development, demonstration and implementation of innovative technologies for climate and atmospheric observations, validation of satellite data, high-altitude medicine and early detection of natural hazards.

These interdisciplinary research goals have been grouped into eight Key Scientific Activities which each bring together several of our research institutes and whiche are represented by a scientific speaker.

The speakers of each Key Scientific Activity constitute the UFS Science Team, which meets periodically and ensures the scientific quality of the virtual institute Schneefernerhaus.

Every member institute of the consortium also holds one position as a speaker of a Key Scientific Activity and thus hold a seat in the science team.
